We are quite often asked what is involved in planning your kitchen and bathroom renovation.
How do I start?
Your first step is to collect pictures and magazine articles and start a project file. Keep notes on what you want to see in your new kitchen. Visit our showroom.
How long have you been in business?
We have been family owned and operated since 1976.
What cabinetry lines do you carry?
We manufacture our own cabinets so we can make them to suit our client’s needs. This allows us to offer more options such as melamine or wood interiors, custom finishes and colours, drawer options, accessories that make the most of our client’s kitchens.
how much should I budget for my kitchen renovation?
Always allow at least 10% for extras, last minute additions or changes. The price of your project will vary with the scope of your renovation and the products chosen.
As a rough estimate, allow between 10 - 20% of the value of your home for your renovation. A home worth $650,000 with a budget of 10% of the home value would have a breakdown similar to this:
| cabinets |
$26,000.00 |
| labour |
6.500.00 |
| plumbing including sink and faucets |
2,600.00 |
| appliances |
6,500.00 |
| lighting and electrical |
6,500.00 |
| painting and wall repairs |
2,000.00 |
| countertops |
6,500.00 |
| flooring |
5,200.00 |
| tile backsplash |
1,600.00 |
| misc. handles, accessories, etc. |
1,600.00 |
How much does the Kitchen Idea Centre do?
We can do as much or as little as you want. Most clients will take advantage of our full design and contracting service while others just use our design and installation service. We do not at this time offer our products for do-it-yourself.
Does a kitchen or bathroom remodel increase the value of my home?
It certainly does. The Appraisal Institute of Canada shows that a kitchen or bathroom renovation will yield 75 - 100% return on your investment when you sell your home.
Do you charge to have a designer come out and look at our project?
We do not charge for the initial consultation but we do ask that you visit our showroom first to look at the products and materials that best suit your lifestyle. After your showroom visit, we will set up an appointment with one of our designers for an in-home visit. |
